after taste

Postby mississippimoon » Tue Nov 03, 2009 9:56 pm

i made a small batch of a simple wine/cider

i combined 16 oz of apple juice, 16 oz grape juice, about a liter of water, 1 cup of brown sugar, and yeast into a glass container

fermented four days. decent taste and alcohol content, but kind of a weird aftertaste and smell. almost a little like vomit. not terrible or overbearing, just a little off.

any way to fix that?

Try boiling all the ingredients except the piece of bread...er, yeast. When cool add all + the yeast into a sterilized container, then cover with something to keep the bugs and microbes out.

Pruno makers don't even put a pinhole in the plastic bag; it will simply swell up and they're happily drinkin!

Sorry for the reference to pruno, but they do exist and I think your worthwhile experiment got a little microbe growing along with the yeast.
