Where do you get your yeast???

Postby grandapa's homework » Wed Oct 21, 2009 11:40 am

A quick google search I found I can get 5lbs of active dry yeast for $17.42. Does anyone else have a place with a better deal? Just seems $5/jar at the grocery adds up. This is in the US, FYI

I use Fleischmann's Instant Yeast from Sam's Club priced at $4.16 for 2 - 1 pound vacuum sealed bricks... That's $2.08 per pound... That's less than I was spending for 28 grams (1 ounce) elsewhere when buying in 3 - 7 gram sachets for about $1.80...

So you are using regular store bought yeast as in Fleshmens, vs using aTurbo Yeast? Wow! That was question I was going to ask. If I'm just make nuteral spirts fro vodka, I can usejust grocery store bought yeast? So how mush do you use to a 5 gallon wash?

For my sugar washes I use 2 tablespoons per gallon because it's so cheap...
